QUICKQ / QUICKQ Tutorials

Using QUICKQ for the first time? Follow these six steps

There is nothing to worry about on your first run; just go in this order. First get the installer, then install it and sign in, then pick a route and connect. When you are done, disconnect — and next time around, feel free to switch to a different route instead. Every step leaves an obvious tell-tale sign, so once you have walked through it once, your very first session connects without a hitch.

1

Get the client

Open the download page, choose the build that matches your device, and take the file from the official channel.
How to tell it worked: the system requirements on the download page line up with your device.

2

Finish the installation

Run the installer you downloaded and follow the on-screen prompts until every step is done.
How to tell it worked: a QUICKQ icon appears on your desktop or in the Start menu.

3

Launch the client and enter the account details you registered with.
How to tell it worked: once you are signed in, the route list shows up in front of you.

4

Read the route list

Each route shows its own status, so pick the one that looks best to you.
How to tell it worked: every route's name and status display normally.

5

Start the connection

Press the connect button and wait a moment for it to go through.
How to tell it worked: the screen reports that you are connected.

6

End or switch

Disconnect once you are finished, or swap to another route before you reconnect next time.
How to tell it worked: after disconnecting it returns to not connected, and after switching it shows connected again.

How can you tell you are really connected?

There is no need to guess; the client's own status tells you, and the three signs below back one another up.

  • The status bar reads Connected, and the route name beside it is the exact route you just picked.
  • If you switch routes mid-session, wait until the screen flips back to Connected before you start using it.
  • Once you disconnect manually, the screen returns to Not connected; next time, just press connect again.

When the connection drops or feels unstable

Find the row that matches what you are seeing, try the first column, and move to the second if it does not help.

Symptom Try this first If it still fails
Cannot sign in Check that you typed the account and password correctly and that your network is up Reset the password if you forgot it, or contact support
Connecting keeps spinning Cancel this attempt, switch to another route, and try again Close the client and reopen it
Speed jumps up and down Close the background apps that are hogging bandwidth Pick a route that is less busy
Keeps dropping on its own Check whether your home network is holding steady Switch routes, or restart the client
Setup gets stuck Double-check the system version and bit depth Go back to the official download page and fetch the installer again
